Brown Bag Lunch

One of the things I love about where we live is that we’re just minutes away from the Duluth “downtown”, and they always have something fun (albeit corny) going on there.  During the summer they have “Brown Bag Lunch” every Thursday where you can come and eat your lunch on the lawn and enjoy live music and the kids can run through the fountains.  Audrey loved watching all the activities and of course LOVED having Daddy join us for lunch!

Here she is calling Andrew to tell him where to meet us (the kid LOVES cell phones).

This is one of her new favorite things: being hurled up into the air (this is why God gave us Dads…Moms are too nervous to be this fun).

This picture is only in here for my favorite cousin, Lisa, who has been bugging me to post a picture of my belly.  I’m only posting it because she’s my favorite cousin.

Just kicking back, drinking her Capri Sun.  What’s next, college?

Last weekend, Andrew took down one of the huge trees in our front yard all by himself (well, he had the help of a chainsaw).  Take that tree!

09-1

It was raining off and on, so we watched from inside.

09-3

They sat like that for about half an hour just watching his every move.  Warning Dads: your kids are always watching you.

My newest obsession

We planted a garden.  I LOVE it!  I’ve always wanted to have an herb garden and this year we decided to plant one.  Mind you, I wanted it to take up half of the back yard and grow a ton of herbs and veggies, but Andrew suggested that we start small and maybe next year we could expand it.  He’s smart like that.  Anyway, I wanted to show off my cute little garden with a few pics.

09-1

Currently we have rosemary, parsley, thyme, basil, cilantro, and two different kinds of peppers and tomato plants.  Aren’t they cute?  This week I’ve used the herbs in 4 different meals that I’ve made.  It’s SO exciting to be able to go out and clip off some basil to throw in my pasta sauce, or some rosemary to add to my garlic cheddar biscuits…yum!

09-2

This basil plant is my favorite and it’s growing like crazy!  I love fresh basil!

And here’s a pic of our first tomato.  He’s about the size of a grape right now, but he’s got potential.

My only regret is that we didn’t take pictures of the garden when we first planted it about a month ago.  It’s amazing how quickly these little guys are growing.  All the credit goes to Andrew since he is the one who broke up all the soil, built the garden, planted all the herbs, and puts stuff on them to make them grow and to keep the insects at bay.  I just get to watch them grow and walk out back and clip some when I’m needing one for a recipe.

One year updates

We went to the doctor last week for Audrey’s 1 year check up (still can’t believe she’s one!), and she got a glowing report.  She’s still in the 95% for height and is in the 50% for weight.  These are not stats that she got from my gene pool!  I’m pretty sure at this rate she’s going to be taller than me by the time she’s 2.  Heck, she’s already taller than Shawn Johnson.

Anyway, here are some more pictures from her birthday weekend and her showing off some of her new toys.

Can you feel the excitement?

09-2

Not quite sure what to do with it now that it’s out of the bag.

09-3

“One million dollars”

09-4

Seriously, baby sunglasses=hilarious

09-6

Okay, so that last pic doesn’t have anything to do with her birthday or being 1…I just thought it was cute.

I made dinner last night, and Audrey wouldn’t touch a thing on her plate.  However, this seemed appetizing to her:

What does that say about my cooking?

Happy Birthday Audrey!  Like most parents, I can’t believe how fast this first year has gone by.  Well, actually the first few months seemed to last forever, but the rest has flown by!  We have so enjoyed being Audrey’s parents, and feel so very blessed to have her.  She is getting to be so funny and adventurous, and it seems like she’s constantly doing things that amaze us and make us laugh.  Happy Birthday Audrey!  We love you!!!

We had a little party for her last Saturday and she got to experience her first cupcake.  It started off a little rough, but then she got the hang of it and ate the entire thing.

09-1

What 1st birthday is complete without a few tears?

09-22

Proceeding with caution.

09-3

Throwing caution to the wind.
