St. Simons Island

We had a great time at St. Simons Island this weekend!  We stayed at a great place, ate at some wonderful restaurants (thanks to Jill for all the good recommendations), went to the beach, and enjoyed relaxing and being on “island time” for a few days.

Audrey didn’t quite know what to think of the sand at first…

but then she loved it!  Andrew would cover her feet with sand, and then she would just stare at her feet like they had magically disappeared.  Hilarious!

The island is covered with these beautiful huge trees that are perfect for climbing, and provide great shade.

We found this fabulous park that’s right next to the water.  There were lots of people biking, fishing, and feeding the seagulls.  It was such a great place to just relax and hang out, and of course Audrey loved the swings.

We also went to Jekyll Island one day, and got to visit the Georgia Sea Turtle Center.  Here’s one of the baby turtles (they are SO cute!).

And check out this crab (he doesn’t realize that he’ll soon be lunch for one of the bigger turtles).

All in all, a great weekend!

“Hey Y’all”

Yesterday (on our way down to St. Simons Island), we decided to stop in Savannah for lunch at Lady and Sons (Paula Deen’s restaurant).  It was everything that you would expect from Paula Deen and then some!

09-15

There was an all-you-can-eat buffet…and trust me, we ate all we could.

Audrey even got to sample so real southern cooking.

If you’re ever in Savannah, I would highly recommend stopping by for lunch, but be sure to wear some pants with a little stretch in them!

3 years…really?

Andrew and I will celebrate our 3 year wedding anniversary tomorrow!  I can’t believe it’s been 3 years already!  I love being married to Andrew, and can’t imagine my life without him!  Today he sent me flowers.

09-14

Aren’t they beautiful!?!

He also got me an ice cream maker (which I am SO excited about)!  It arrived a few days ago, and we’ve made a couple of quarts of ice cream already!  My very favorite ice cream in the whole world is Daiquiri Ice from Baskin Robbins.  Unfortunately, it’s what they call a “regional flavor” and they don’t have it in Georgia.  😦  But, I found a recipe online and it was the first thing I made in my new ice cream maker…SO good!

So, what’s your favorite ice cream flavor?  Wanna come over and have some?

At least it keeps her busy while I’m folding clothes.  🙂

Today was a great day!  For starters, I’m finally feeling like I’m back in the land of the living.  No more morning sickness (that lasts all day), and I have some energy and motivation again (something that has been missing for the last four months).  Not to mention that the last few days have been gorgeous in Atlanta!  Today was about 75 degrees and sunny!  So, Audrey and I decided to rejoin society.

We went through our normal morning routine, and then we picked Andrew up at his office and all had a picnic together for lunch.

Then I took a few quick pics of Audrey in the grass (since I haven’t taken ANY pictures the last couple of months because I’ve been super lazy).

09-7

Then this afternoon, Audrey and I went to the park by our house.  She loved swinging!

09-8

Then we went for a walk (Audrey’s new favorite thing is to hold Dino’s leash while we walk.  I think it makes her feel powerful.).

09-9

(both looking like they don’t care)

09-10

Then Audrey managed to find (and pick) the only dandelion in the entire park.

I love days like this in Atlanta!  So thankful to have a touch of Springtime, and fabulous people around to enjoy it with!

Seriously, look at those two front chompers!  Could they be any bigger, or farther apart?
